Our bestselling Selective Feeder!

Our Squirrel Proof Selective has an open grid bottom to prevent seed build-up that attracts squirrels and large birds. Gray squirrels are left to eat seed from the ground, while songbirds feast at your feeder from six feeding ports. Overhanging roof with squirrel lock shelters your seed from the weather to reduce waste. Open grid bottom, so seed won’t accumulate. 5-1/2 inch metal hanger. 10-1/2 x 15-1/2 inches tall.

  • Holds 1-1/2 lbs. of seed with 6 feeding ports
  • Attract birds with private dining & block larger birds
  • Features fly-through wire caging to keep out gray squirrels
  • Easy to fill from the top, without disassembly
  • Available exclusively at Duncraft

Best of the best
I have one of these bird feeders, it's ancient but works like a charm! Birds flock to it, squirrels "try" to no avail. I'd suggest an area, however, that chipmunks can't get to it - they don't eat much and I love their cheeks full of seed, but prefer watching my song birds. Bravo Duncraft, job well done

Not Squirrel Proof
I have had this feeder for a few years. Until last week I would have given it 5 stars. Last week, I found a gray squirrel inside the cage gorging himself. Maybe he will get too fat to fit through.

Merchant Response

This feeder keeps out adult grey squirrels but small, young ones can sometimes get in for a snack. It may be worthwhile to add a baffle or try hot pepper seed for a while until the little fellow gets bigger!

Difficult to clean
This feeder is very good for small songbirds but it is very difficult to clean. There is no way to remove the center tube and the seeds stick in the bottom and rot.

Merchant Response

We recommend just putting in enough seed to last a week or two and then dump out any remaining seed before it gets yucky.

Nice Feeder But Has Some Design Issues
I recently purchased a Duncraft Squirrel Proof selective feeder. While it is a nice and attractive feeder, there are several deign issues that make the feeder inconvenient to use. To begin with, the green cap that sits on top of the feeding tube fits so tightly that you often have to pull the cap very hard to get it off, particularly on very warm days. Several times, this has caused the hanger to become disconnected to the metal dowel that goes through the feeding tube and literally holds the feeder together. Also, the 2 metal discs that are attached to the wire hanger and "lock" the cap onto the feeder tube can be very difficult to move and also have a tendency to fall back on the cap while you are trying to fill the feeder. Sincerely, Walter Briggs

Really Squirrel Proof
The Good: The metal rings at the top hold the lid snugly on and prevent Squirrels from opening and chewing the tube. This is important because other brands use rubber stoppers which the squirrels eat through in minutes. The little birds love this feeder and it keeps out the bully birds too. The open bottom is good also. The Bad: Duncraft needs to use a Rustproof coating on the cage, it rusts badly which is not good for the birds to be exposed to. Other brands of cage feeders do not rust so I know it can be done. The feeder is very hard to clean, I wish Duncraft would make the tube removable for easier cleaning for the health of the birds.
