This is a very heavy, well-made bird cage. I have had several squirrels try to eat from it and they give up. However, I have starlings/grackles that eat from it all the time and that was what I was trying to avoid. Also, don't buy it if you have a basic bird feeder pole, it's too heavy for that. And I will give it props on one other issue - deer. I have a squirrel buster, that the deer, just tip it and eat from it. I've had this metal safe haven for about 3 weeks and the deer have not been able to get to the seed.

I love it because it doesn't need filled each day during our snowy, cold winters. However, the bottom tray is difficult to clean thoroughly. It would be helpful if the tray could come off the cage. Probably the squirrels would figure out how to release the tray!

I have bought many bird feeders in the past and this tops the list. I love that I can put peanuts, safflower seed and sunflower seed in one feeder. Easy to open and fill and then lock. Looking to buy another one. Well constructed of all metal.

Well to start with, it is a great feeder. And it does allow the small birds to eat unintimidated from what I can see. The only problem we have with it, is that those tricky Louisiana squirrels stick their little paws in there and scrape the seeds out of the bottom. So what I did was cut little pieces of hardware cloth to keep them away from the babies food. Also, I’m glad that the outer cage is galvanized, because those little critters quickly removed the nice green paint. But yes, we would buy another one. It’s very easy to fill, i’ve never seen a feeder easier to fill and be that secure, but a pretty good job to clean. I am a long time feeder and watcher of birds and this is the best feeder I have purchased yet - and I have purchased many over approx. 30 years. I was hesitant on the price, but got it on sale and am now buying one for my sister as well. I anticipate they will last a long time based on their construction and durability and the fact that my squirrels have not been able to break through the construction-and don't even try. I was happy about that. Note, I do provide the squirrels their own accessible feeder, so they leave my other feeders alone for the most part.
