This feeder is wonderful and is our most productive feeder. Birds flock to it, and it is constantly busy. The "cage light" is a big disappointment and almost useless, but that does not distract from the feeder's main function of attracting lots of birds. The three clips that attach the roof to the cage are also awkward to manage, but these minor features do not distract from how efficient and enjoyable this feeder is. The birds do not hesitate to jump inside the cage or perch on the wire frame to feed. We use the Duncraft Sunflower Heart Chips Wild Bird Seed (Item # 6505) in the feeder. The birds race to get this and stay an extra ordinary long time feeding. It is such a pleasure to watch them. We improved the watching pleasure for this feeder by adding the 16" Seed Hoop (Item # 5008). "No Waste" for the seed does not mean "No Mess". There is so much activity on this feeder that the birds knock some (very little) of the fine chips out of the feeder tray with their feeding action and with so much activity. We added the seed hoop to catch this excess but got a huge BONUS. The seed hoop acts as a swing, landing pad, and ground-feeding source for the birds! It is as entertaining watching the birds in the hoop as it is watching them in the feeder. The combination of this feeder and the seed hoop is unbeatable; it is our favorite feeder.
