Yes, baby birds can get too hot. Birdhouses exposed to scorching sunlight and sweltering temperatures can cause baby birds to overheat and stress. Predators can’t enter, since the anchored steel wire mesh prevents entry from the top. We love this house for keeping many birds cool in hot or warm climates, without overheating! Mount against any flat surface. Eastern white pine with 1/4 inch stainless steel mesh. The overhanging roof measures 7-1/4 inches square. Birdhouse measures 5 x 6-1/4 x 11-1/2 inches tall.
